Set within an 11-acre private rainforest reserve located a few minutes from Costa Rica’s most popular national park, Arenas Del Mar Resort offers guests the very best location in all of Manuel Antonio, with direct access to two sandy beaches ideal for swimming and surfing. Resident naturalist guides help guests explore the abundant wildlife on the property; agoutis, sloths, coatis, howler monkeys and white-faced capuchin monkeys are frequently spotted.  Each of the 37 rooms and suites feature a spacious balcony with ample room to relax and enjoy the spectacular sunsets and ocean vistas. Two restaurants offer elevated local fare including seasonal catches from the Dock-to-Dish program and staff throughout the resort embody the friendly Pura Vida vibe Costa Rica is known for.

Arenas Del Mar offers guests a myriad of ways to explore the surrounding rainforest and beaches. Choose from a selection of small group or private tours to Manuel Antonio or beyond; learn to surf or SUP; go zip-lining through the canopy; swim beneath waterfalls; ride horses through the rainforest or learn about Costa Rican culture during visits to the market and Los Campesinos Reserve.  A member of the Cayuga Collection, the resort is proudly Carbon Neutral and employs sustainable practices throughout all levels of operation.

WHEN TO VISIT

Costa Rica has two well defined seasons; the dry season from December to April and Rainy Season or 'Green Season' from May to November. However, the rain, especially on the Pacific coast, typically occurs during the afternoon or evening. Warm temperatures are characteristic throughout the year making Arenas Del Mar and Costa Rica a good option for travel year-round.

Manuel Antonio & the Pacific Coast experience a short mid-year mini-dry season towards the end of July and beginning of August. Rainfall typically decreases significantly for three or four weeks, especially in the northern Pacific, making this a great time to plan summer family vacations. September & October typically experience the most rain, but crowds are significantly less during this 'Green Season.'  Wildlife tends to be very active around this time and excellent discounted rates are available.

FOR FAMILIES

Manuel Antonio is an excellent destination for families. The wildlife is abundant and easily spotted on short walks (good for little legs) and the beautiful beaches and warm water offer endless enjoyment & activities.

Arenas Del Mar especially caters to families and children. Suites can accommodate two children and two adults and many interconnecting room options are available. When sharing a room with adults, children under 12 years of age may stay at no additional charge. Full breakfast is included for them and other incidentals are charged at regular price.

During peak holiday times, Arenas Del Mar organizes complimentary kid-friendly cultural activities, nature walks and movie nights, leaving parents free to enjoy happy hour or dinner together.  Additional amenities include two pools (one infinity edge), secluded Playitas Beach which is regularly accessible only to hotel guests, complimentary boogies boards, a complimentary “Tico Bar” snacks and drinks in the rooms, and three complimentary on-site experiences that are family-friendly (Tortilla Making, Plant a Tree and Sustainability Tour).

RECOMMENDED LENGTH OF STAY

Three to Four nights is ideal if combined with another destination in Costa Rica or many people opt to spend the balance of their trip at Arenas Del Mar only given the array of experiences that are possible in and around Manuel Antonio.

UNIQUE SELLING POINTS

Location, location, location. Arenas Del Mar is the only luxury hotel in Manuel Antonio with direct beach access + a surrounding rainforest environment. While no beach in Costa Rica is private, Playitas comes close as it is really only readily accessible via Arenas Del Mar.

Despite offering the amenities of a much larger resort, Arenas Del Mar has only 37 rooms and employs over 120 full time staff. Rooms are spread throughout the property and are accessed via electric golf carts.

While Manuel Antonio National Park is a main attraction, the wildlife that travels through the Arenas Del Mar private reserve is equally impressive and without the crowds. Sloths, monkeys, parrots, coatis, agoutis and even anteaters are regularly spotted.

The wealth of activities available in Manuel Antonio is staggering. Active children and teens will be endlessly entertained by the excellent wildlife viewing, surfing, zip lining and waterfall adventures while travelers looking for a more 'chill' experience with low key beach and pool time can find that as well.

Unlike many hotels that seasonally downsize their payroll, the staff at Arenas Del Mar are employed full-time, year-round. This fosters a unique sense of community and ensure seamless, friendly and experienced service regardless of when your guests travel.

BEST COMBINED WITH

Arenas Del Mar and the rainforest and beaches of Manuel Antonio are complementary to the Cloud Forests of Monteverde or the tropical volcanic highlands surrounding Arenal. Also combines well with Lapa Rios in the Osa Peninsula, or Auberge Altagracia.
